A challenge of painting at night time is capturing the subtleties of night vision, especially when it can be disrupted by using a torchlight when illuminating the picture surface.
The grass in the the foreground was bathed in moonlight - it appeared as a bluish grey rather than green because the light was not bright enough to activate the colour rods in the eye.
